It's not the Ritz; but it's our family holiday cottage we use ourselves, so it's functional, basic, clean, peaceful, and you can drive there from anywhere in Sydney, stop overnight (or over a weekend), and then drive home without feeling you lost the benefit of your time away by a long drive home!

Colongra
swamp and wetlands is only 1km walk away; it's extensive, interesting, yet few
people know where it is! (we took this in a dry spell) |

Well-trained dog is OK (we have had several King Charles Spaniels who have loved it there with the lake and bush walks so close by!). External laundry doubles as a kennel at night.
There are excellent shops, including a new Coles supercentre, several decent coffee shops (on the lake and at the beaches), and restaurants/clubs only 2 km away; Munmorah Recreation Area 8 km (with its awesome sea cave); Norah Head lighthouse 9 km. A great place to relax, even in winter!
Some of our church contacts have used it for leaders' and small group retreats (it sleeps 10+ people when required), and can cater for 20 as day visitors).

The holiday cottage is clean, re-carpeted in 2007, light and airy (no need for air conditioning!); refurbished kitchen (see photo); 1 double bedroom; 1 very large bedroom that sleeps 3+. Carpeted sleepout (fully upgraded to be an additional bedroom in 2010) can sleep 5 more and hold everything else you may want to take; external laundry and 2nd toilet; carport (see photo), digital TV, VCR, DVD player, microwave, and a basic collection of all essentials (except for linen).
And
we
doubled the size of the main living area in
October 2010. |
