Recommendation

I am a regular visitor to Zimbabwe with a church missions' group.  When we bring others for the first time, we make sure they see the "other Africa" before going home.  I have used Reedbuck's services on four visits.  We are not high-flying wealthy tourists and are concerned about getting non-commercialized value-for-money service. Reedbuck Safaris have provided that.  The Principal, Sam Gabara, worked for Zimbabwe National Parks for many years as a head ranger.  On safari, it seemed to us like he knew everybody!

And the man is a walking encyclopedia on animals, birds, geology, history, etc, etc.  Our small group so enjoyed his company, his expertise, and the friendly manner of both Sam and his wife, Sheillah, and their small staff.  We were looked after so well.  Not in luxury, but it was like being part of an extended family.  My first-timers were rapt - especially after a ranger-friend of Sam's tracked down a pride of 11 lions at Mazuma, Hwange NP which we filmed on foot!

Don't be put off by any current negative reports about Zimbabwe.  We were safer there than here in Sydney, Australia!  And our foreign exchange went a very long way....

Let me recommend Reedbuck to you as an enriching option to the glossy magazine, air-conditioned, expensive "safaris" the Airlines promote.  Touch base with Reedbuck and experience the real Africa!  Its ordinary people, places, as well as its extraordinary wildlife and scenery....

And as they say, "you initially come for the animals...  but you come back again for the birdlife!" (I took this photo at Sinamatela July 08)

Brian Rensford (senior minister, Holroyd New Life Church, Sydney, Australia).  And yes, Sam has become a friend (shamwari) of mine.  After his webmaster died suddenly, I helped him set up and now maintain this website (as a favour - no kickbacks, no favours asked in return!)
