Broad Perspective of Pastoral Care - the potential Achilles Heel of Christian
Ministry"
Pastoral
Care is the potential 'Achilles Heel' in
Christian
Ministry
’. The concept here is that we can see victory / results in so much of
our ministry - but if we don’t build a strong pastoral foundation for
enduring ministry and discipleship, then we can open up a potential Achilles
heel in our ministry.
This
Unit is an Intensive over Thurs & Fri Aug 26 & 27 (6.30-9.30pm), and
Sat. Aug 27 (9.00-3.30pm) - It is for everyone - not just a paid few
"professionals". Learn skills relevant to the Priesthood of
Every Believer - caring effectively for children, youth, aged, infirm, and
handicapped people.
Special
keynote speaker is Garry McMahon (well-known in our district as former
director of Life After Prisons (LAP), and now senior minister of Telopea
Church of Christ - a church with a long history of ministering to the
marginalised); Garry will especially cover "the spirit of caring for
the marginalised" (including the element of evangelism embedded in
pastoral care of non-members. The costs of the Unit are covered by
freewill offerings (including the meal).
In
addition to the stated subjects, this Unit lends itself to a lot of discussion
and participation. COME PREPARED
